Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026. This page describes what Home Renovation Guru stores, why it stores it, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

Who is responsible

The site is published by Home Renovation Guru, contactable at [email protected]. That mailbox is the single point of contact for any privacy question, access request or deletion request.

What is collected when you read a page

Like any web server, the host records the request itself: the page asked for, the time, the response code, the referring page and the browser user agent string. These logs exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are rotated automatically and are not combined with anything else to build a profile of an individual reader. No account is required to read any page here, and no login cookies are set for visitors.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie only when you submit a comment or log into the administration area; ordinary reading sets none. The content delivery network in front of the site may set a short-lived security cookie to distinguish a browser from an automated request. There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking pixel and no third-party analytics script on these pages.

Email subscription

If you subscribe, the address you type is stored so the newsletter can be sent. It is used for that purpose only. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address from the list rather than flagging it inactive. The address is never rented, sold, or appended to another list.

Messages you send

Correspondence sent to the contact address is kept while the query is open and for a short period afterwards, so that a follow-up question can be answered without starting over. It is not published, and it is not added to any marketing list. If you ask for it to be deleted, it is deleted.

Third parties that touch the data

Three, and no more. A hosting provider runs the server. A content delivery network caches pages and filters malicious traffic. An email provider delivers the newsletter. Each handles data on instruction and none is permitted to use it for its own marketing. There is no data broker, no advertising network and no social media embed on this site.

How long anything is kept

Server logs are kept for a short operational window measured in days, then discarded. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Support email is kept for the life of the query plus a short tail. Nothing else is retained, because nothing else is collected.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for a copy, ask for correction, or ask for deletion. Write to the contact address and say which of those you want. Requests are answered within thirty days. If you believe the answer is wrong, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country of residence.

Children

The site is written for adults managing building work. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen, and there is no mechanism on the site that would invite a child to submit anything.

Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS end to end. The administration area is protected by rate limiting and a web application firewall. Access to the server is restricted to key-based authentication. No system is perfect, so if you find a problem, report it to the contact address rather than publishing it.

Links to other sites

Articles link to regulations, standards bodies, manufacturers and occasionally to other publications. Once you follow a link, that site’s own policy applies. This site does not control what they collect and cannot answer for it.

Changes to this page

When the policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the substance of the change is described here rather than quietly edited in. The current version has been in force since the date shown above.
